Hella Conversion Headlamps replace sealed beams with High Quality replaceable bulb European Technology headlamps.

Sealed beams are designed to be thrown away when the filament burns out. The lens and reflectors are only good enough to meet the US standard.

These lamps have Optical Quality Tempered Quartz lenses and polished aluminum reflectors with a silver plated surface which provide up to four times as much light on the road on low beam and twice as much on High Beam. Low Beams have a crisp cutoff that allows much better vision without offending oncoming traffic. H4 bulbs are used, the most common bulb with the most variations in wattage and color available.

This is my second pair of Hella E-code headlights from Susquehanna Motorsports.

This time, the customer service was TERRIBLE! When I made my first purchase, it was from the original company owner. No problem there.

I placed this order on August 2, 2010. I received an email stating that the bulbs were on back-order. I replied that I'd like to have the lamps shipped right away without the bulbs. NO REPLY.

My voicemail follow up was the same. When I reached someone on the phone, August 11, 2010, he assured me the lamps would ship right out, minus the bulbs, via Priority Mail to make up some of the lost time. I was promptly charged for lamps that were not shipped. An additional call on a Friday brought a promise of investigation the following Monday. When I called late in Monday's business hours, I informed they had no record of my order going out. They did promise to send an order right out via Priority Mail, simply asking me to inform them if I received double.

I finally received my order of August 2, 2010 on August 26, 2010.

After receiving the lamps, I discovered in my bank statement that I had been charged for the bulbs. I did know they were on back-order, but I was not contacted that the bulbs had been charged shipped, anything. There was no call, no e-mail, and no listing in my account info at THEIR website.

I had been assured that no additional shipping would be charged for the separation of the order. They had, after all, accepted my order with no indication that the bulbs were out of stock.

Of course, the later charge brought my total about $8 higher than what my original combined total was shown to be. Not a lot of money but, quite insulting given the circumstance. I also feel it shows a complete lack of attention to detail and/ or real dishonesty.

As for Hella E-code headlights, they are very effective. I replaced the outer pair of lights on a car with four rectangular headlights (165mm). That pair has a high and low filament. The high setting on the Hellas made the dedicated high beams (still stock disposables) completely obsolete. I angled them as far outward as they would go to try and make some use of them.

I'm using a pair of 200mm (this listing) on a vehicle with two rectangular headlights. As with the 165mm size, the low beam is great. Distinct cut-off keeps it out of the eyes of oncoming traffic and keeps the beam under rain, fog, dust for your benefit. Essentially, a white, even floor of light is laid down in front of your vehicle.

The high beams are far beyond the throw-aways in both distance and coverage.

I'm using 55w low and 100w high Hella brand bulbs.
