This product states that it works on the 2009 Pontiac Vibe, but not the GT. I have a 2009 Pontiac Vibe. My car is not a GT. It has AWD. I bought and installed the product. It contacts the muffler. I started up the car and the vibration from the contact darn near rattled me out of the car! Going over bumps was awful. I noticed the problem during the install and thought it was just my problem. I re-installed it, and this time I bent the exhaust shield downwards to provide a buffer between the hitch and the muffler. This was to no avail. I had to return this hitch and order the Curt 12221 instead. The 12221 works fine. It provides the clearance necessary at the muffler. The workmanship on both hitches are fine and the holes line up with no problem. It's just that the 12228 doesn't work for my car.
